Laguna Beach’s Parsons Advances in Surfing

Mike Parsons of Laguna Beach defeated Chris Frohoff of Redondo Beach Friday to advance into the round of 16 of the Cold Water surfing tournament at Santa Cruz.

Richie Collins of Costa Mesa, the defending champion, and Matt Archbold and George Hulse of Dana Point are the only other Orange County surfers left in the tournament that concludes Sunday.

Collins takes on Matt Branson of Australia in the second round, which concludes today. Archbold goes against Bryce Ellis of Australia and Hulse faces Sunny Garcia of Hawaii.

Jeff Booth of Laguna Beach, Noah Budroe and Gary Clisby of Huntington Beach, Jim Hogan and Brian McNulty of Capistrano Beach and Dino Andino of San Clemente were eliminated Friday.
