Playing With Dolphins

The article “Dolphins ‘Ask’ to Be Fed by People at West Australia Beach” (Feb. 19), by Lyn Hancock, on Monkey Mia, reminded me of my wonderful two-day stay in the Shark Bay area of western Australia in November, 1987. The close contact with these friendly bottlenose dolphins is truly a unique experience.
Although the article listed only Australian firms going to this area, I would like to inform readers that there is an American firm, Oceanic Society Expeditions, that also includes Monkey Mia among its trips. Also, Oceanic goes to Kangaroo Island, Kakadu National Park and Heron Island on the Great Barrier Reef. Oceanic Society Expeditions can be contacted at Building E, Fort Mason Center, San Francisco 94123, or call (415) 441-1106.
