KABUL, Afghanistan — Muslim guerrillas today ignored a cease-fire declared by the government and fired missiles and rockets at Kabul and three other cities, witnesses and the government said.
A missile blew up a fuel truck parked near a petroleum tank depot on the northern edge of Kabul. Several trucks parked nearby also exploded.
The Foreign Ministry said guerrillas fired rockets and cannons at the cities of Jalalabad, Kandahar and Sarobi. Ministry spokesman Mohammad Nabi Amani said government troops held their fire. He had no information on casualties. Kabul’s military command announced a unilateral cease-fire Wednesday night on the eve of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month.
