A 41-year-old Chula Vista man was shot Wednesday evening after he opened fire on agents of the San Diego County Integrated Narcotics Task Force in the 500 block of Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon, police said.
Patrick B. Kelley of the 900 block of Nolan Way in Chula Vista was removed from the building next to a Longs Drug Store and taken by Life Flight helicopter to Sharp Hospital, where he was in serious but stable condition Wednesday night, said Lt. Bob Lein of the El Cajon Police Department.
Lein said agents of the task force, which includes officers from all county law-enforcement agencies and the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration, were attempting “an undercover buy operation” about 5:15 p.m. The man opened fire when agents tried to arrest him, Lein said.
