A 57-year-old inmate who had been transferred to Physicians & Surgeons Hospital from the County Jail because of a respiratory infection died Monday, Sheriff’s Department officials said Tuesday.
Peter Ignacio Lucero, a San Diego laborer who lived in the 2700 block of Broadway, was booked April 3 into County Jail on suspicion of being under the influence of a drug, Lt. Dave Herbert said.
Lucero was transferred to the hospital April 5, and was under a doctor’s care until his death, Herbert said.
