Local News in Brief : Board to Hear Appeals on Phoenix House Plan
- Share via
Appeals of a decision in favor of locating the Nancy Reagan Center for drug rehabilitation in Lake View Terrace will be heard at 11:30 a.m. June 27 in Van Nuys.
The Los Angeles city Board of Zoning Appeals will review appeals from community groups and from the applicant, Phoenix House, which wants to build a 210-patient live-in treatment, research and training center on the site of the former Lake View Medical Center. The hearing will be held at the Van Nuys Woman’s Club, 14836 Sylvan St.
In March, a city zoning administrator ruled in favor of the center, but he attached a list of conditions that include high fences, 24-hour guards and video monitors inside the buildings. Phoenix House objected to the conditions. Community groups say the center does not belong in their residential neighborhood.
