Hewlett-Packard Co.: The Palo Alto high-tech company reported flat second-quarter earnings despite a 15% increase in revenue. Net earnings totaled $203 million, while net revenue reached $2.86 billion. The company said it had difficulty in “ramping up product shipments to match order growth in areas of strong demand, notably medical products, personal computers and workstations.” Softness in orders for microwave and communications products was also cited.
