Five high school athletes in Glen Ridge, N.J., accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old female special education student as eight other boys watched will not return to class as planned, the district superintendent said. “Through a mutual agreement with parents, they will remain on home instruction,” Supt. of Schools Rose McCaffrey said in a statement. “The four seniors will receive diplomas if they meet our graduation requirements but will not attend the graduation ceremony.” The superintendent did not say if the fifth student charged, a junior, would return to school next year.
