Union May Bid for Health-tex: The Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union plans a bid for Health-tex Inc., a New York-based children’s apparel maker. The offer for Health-tex would be made through an employee stock ownership plan, a union spokeswoman said. No further financial details were provided. A spokeswoman said the Health-tex proposal was not related to the union’s previously announced bid for Cluett, Peabody & Co., the manufacturer of Arrow shirts.
