United Technologies Corp.: The Hartford, Conn.-based company, which provides a broad range of high-technology products and support services to the aerospace, building systems and automotive industries, reported second-quarter profit of $197 million, about the same as a year ago. Sales totaled $5.3 billion, up 18%. The firm said 1988 figures include the sale of its share of Telefunken Electronic GmbH, a West German semiconductor joint venture, which resulted in a pretax gain of $41.4 million.
