Former Montebello Councilman Bill Molinari has announced plans to run for City Council in the November election. Molinari founded the 800-member South Montebello Area Residents Together (SMART), which fought a City Council eminent domain proposal that was later defeated at the polls.
Community activist Shirley Garcia and incumbents Arnold Glasman and Edward Pizzorno also will be candidates in the race for three council seats.
The three seats that will be open are filled by William Nighswonger, Glasman and Pizzorno. Nighswonger said he will retire.
Candidates must file their intent to run by Aug. 11.
