Santa Monica : Limits on Waste Water
The City Council has extended for another year an emergency ordinance adopted last July limiting the amount of waste water discharged into the Santa Monica sewer system.
The ordinance had limited the growth of sewage flows generated by new development from July 1, 1988, to June 30, 1989, to no more than a 1.36% net increase over the amount of waste water generated by the city during the same period the previous year.
The same formula of allowing a 1.36% increase over the previous year will be in effect. The ordinance is effective immediately.
City staff is expected to recommend permanent waste-water restrictions.
