A Tri-City Hospital nurse was arrested Monday on charges of sexually assaulting an emergency room patient, according to an Oceanside police officer.

Sergio Morquecho, 31, of Oceanside was booked into the County Jail in Vista on charges of attempted rape, assault with intent to rape, and sexual battery, said Officer Gary Church. Morquecho, who is being held without bail, has been formally charged in the case, Church said.

The charges stem from an Aug. 9 assault in the emergency room on an 18-year-old illegal alien, Church said. Morquecho was on duty at that time, working as an interpreter for the woman, according to Church.
