About 30 Huntington Beach residents were evacuated from their homes early this morning when a fire swept through a home and adjoining market in their neighborhood.
Firefighters reported no injuries in the blaze at Orange Avenue and 11th Street. Damage was estimated at $130,000.
The fire was reported at 1:03 a.m., said Mary Ann Marcello, a fire controller dispatcher. No one was in the house, which was under renovation, or the market. The house at 1105 Orange Ave. was a total loss, Marcello said. Damage was estimated at $50,000.
Fire destroyed about 10% of the Westside Market, 327 11th St. Damage was estimated at $45,000 to the structure and $10,000 to its contents. Nearby structures had an estimated $25,000 damage.
About 35 firefighters controlled the blaze after an hour and 10 minutes, Marcello said. Power was shut off in the immediate area because of downed electrical lines.
