The Orange County division of the League of California Cities has elected Los Alamitos City Councilman Ronald Bates to the office of first vice president.
Bates, who was elected to the Los Alamitos council in April, 1988, has served as second vice president of the league since last October.
“This past year has given me new insights into the complex problems that face all of our cities and the role that the league can play in helping to address those problems,” he said.
Bates said the major problems he wants to address in the next year are growth management and transportation.
“These issues are crucial to our region and directly affect our quality of life,” he said. “We need to address them now before a regional crisis develops.”
Bates will be installed on Oct. 24 at the annual League of California Cities Conference in San Francisco.
