The father of a 13-year-old girl shot and killed a burglar as the intruder climbed through the girl’s bedroom window early Monday, the Sheriff’s Department reported.
Timothy Dimasi fired four shots from a .22-caliber rifle, killing the unidentified man and apparently wounding a second burglar who escaped, Sgt. Bob Ramirez said.
Dimasi, of Willow Bend Drive, off Willow Glen Road near the Singing Hills Country Club, was awakened by his teen-age daughter after she heard two people speaking outside her bedroom window and attempting to enter another room at 1:15 a.m., Ramirez said.
Armed, Dimasi went to the bedroom while his wife called the Sheriff’s Department. Dimasi fired when one of the men was entering the house through his daughter’s window, Ramirez said.
The intruder, who was pronounced dead at Grossmont Hospital, was armed with a screwdriver. The second man was being sought Monday night, Ramirez said.
Dimasi was not arrested, though the shooting is under investigation.
