PHOENIX — Phoenix Cardinals starting defensive end Freddie Joe Nunn was suspended for 30 days by the NFL today for violating provisions of the league’s substance abuse policy, the team announced.
Cardinals General Manager Larry Wilson said Nunn was placed on the club’s non-football illness list and has entered a treatment facility in the Phoenix area.
Wilson said the 6-foot-4 250-pound Nunn will not be allowed to practice or play for the team until at least Oct. 25. Wilson said league policy prohibited him from disclosing the nature of the violations.
Nunn, 27, is a five-year pro and has 15 tackles in three games as a starter for Phoenix this season.
