A Vista man died Monday after the car he was driving veered off Mission Road in Fallbrook and smashed into a tree, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
The accident that killed Miguel Carranza, 27, occurred about 7:55 p.m. near La Canada Road, CHP Officer Sergio Flores said. Police said Carranza was speeding.
Carranza was dead at the scene, Deputy Coroner Max Murphy said.
No other vehicles appeared to have been involved, and it was unknown what caused the accident.
