Book sale: The Friends of the Fullerton Library will hold a book sale from 10 to 4 p.m. today and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the library auditorium, 353 W. Commonwealth Ave.
Book signings: Jim (Supersaw) Leonard and Janet E. Graebner will sign “Scratch My Back: A Pictorial History of the Musical Saw and How to Play It” from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Fahrenheit 451, 509 S. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach. . . . Gary Brandner (“The Howling”) and Richard Laymon (“The Cellar”) will sign “Night Visions 7,” a horror anthology, and Tom Elliott will sign “The Dwelling” from 12 to 2 p.m. today at Aladdin Books, 122 W. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton. . . . Children’s author Jan Brett will sign “Sleeping Beauty” and “The Mitten” from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Children’s Bookshoppe, 1831 Westcliff Drive, Newport Beach. . . . Brett will also sign her books from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Lorson’s Books and Prints, 116 W. Wilshire Ave., Fullerton. . . . Robert B. Parker will sign “Poodle Springs” from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Book Carnival, 870 N. Tustin Ave., Orange.
“Old Gringo”: Mexico’s leading novelist Carlos Fuentes (“The Old Gringo”) will discuss “Spain’s Art and Image: The Relationship Between Painting and Literature” at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the South Coast Community Church auditorium, 5120 Bonita Canyon Road, Irvine. Tickets for the UC Irvine-sponsored talk ($8 general admission) will be available at the door.
