HUNTINGTON BEACH — Three teen-agers were wounded Saturday at a Halloween party when a young man pulled out a handgun during an argument and opened fire, Huntington Beach police said.
The suspect, described by police only as a male in his late teens, fled after the shooting at 8:30 p.m. and had not been captured by late Saturday night.
Police would not release the names of the three youths who were shot during the melee at the party, but said the most seriously wounded was an 18-year-old man shot in the chest. He was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, where he was in intensive care.
Sgt. Richard Bright of the Huntington Beach Police Department said the wounds did not appear to be life-threatening. A 16-year-old girl was also hit by the bullets, he said. Police had no information on a third victim, he said.
Investigators rushed to the scene of the shooting in the 17000 block of Coronado Lane after reports of gunshots, Bright said. Although details were sketchy, he said, “apparently there was some type of argument and the suspect pulled out a handgun and the three people were shot and wounded.”
