Coca-Cola Commits $50 Million for Education: Coca-Cola Co. announced that it will give $50 million over the next 10 years to improve education, shifting its philanthropic priorities to concentrate on schools. Officials at the Atlanta-based company said the Coca-Cola Foundation wanted to concentrate on education because the issue had become so important. Programs for minority students will be emphasized. Among the first grants are $5 million to historically black colleges and universities in Atlanta.
