LOCAL : Van Nuys Youth Slain in Drive-By

Los Angeles police today were investigating the death of a 17-year-old Van Nuys youth who was killed in a drive-by shooting.
Walter Aldana was shot late Thursday by one of two men on a passing motorcycle in front of an apartment building in the 7000 block of Fulton Avenue, Lt. Al Corella said. The assailants fled southward on Fulton Avenue, he said.
After Aldana was shot, he apparently ran to the rear of the apartment building and tried to take cover under a pickup truck, Corella said.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced Aldana dead at the scene.
