HIGH SCHOOL PLAYOFF ROUNDUP : Calabasas Advances in Tennis, 14-4

Stacie Jellen and Natasha Pospich swept their singles matches Thursday--Jellen losing just two games--as Calabasas High defeated Thousand Oaks, 14-4, in a Southern Section 3-A Division tennis playoff opener at Calabasas.

The Coyotes improved to 13-0.

In other tennis playoff matches:

Agoura 17, South Pasadena 1--Agoura’s Trish Silverman, playing No. 1 singles, did not lose a game in three matches in a 3-A match at Agoura. The Chargers (11-5), who swept the doubles matches, will play Glendale in the second round at 9 a.m. Saturday at a location to be determined. South Pasadena finished 10-9.

Glendale 11, Simi Valley 7--Kristy Kneiding won three singles matches to pace the Dynamiters (18-0) in a 3-A match at home. Simi Valley finished 12-7.

Westlake 17, Mira Costa 1--Jennifer Reese, Kim Stuart and Lauren Mazur swept singles matches as Westlake cruised in a 3-A match at Westlake Village Racquet Club. Westlake (20-0) will play at La Canada at 1 p.m. Saturday. Mira Costa dropped to 10-4-1.

Camarillo 10, Hart 8--Molly White and Stephanie Burkhart swept their matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions to lead host Camarillo in a 3-A match.

Cindy Courtemarsh and Shelly Manwaring won all three of their matches at No. 1 doubles for Hart (12-8).

Louisville 14, Nogales 4--Playing without Shellee Gautreau, Louisville’s top singles player who is sidelined with a leg injury, the Royals (18-2) won seven of nine singles matches in a 2-A match.

Volleyball

La Reina d. Atascadero, 15-10, 15-10, 15-9--La Reina setter Amy Crotty spread the wealth as five teammates had seven or more kills for host La Reina in a Southern Section 2-A playoff match. Heather Freeman had 14 kills and Carolyn Russo had 13 to pace La Reina (15-2).
