VALLETTA, Malta — Gale force winds with gusts to 42 knots forced the first meeting today between President Bush and Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev to be shifted to the Maxim Gorky, a Soviet cruise ship.
The first meeting was to get under way at 10 a.m. Malta time. Ceremonial activities were cancelled.
The next meeting between the two leaders was tentatively scheduled to be held at the Holiday Inn where most of the American staff is staying.
