UC Irvine Women Lose to Boise State, 51-35

IRVINE — Shelly Stoican scored 15 points to lead Boise State to a 51-35 victory over UC Irvine Friday in the first round of the Disneyland/Freedom Bowl women’s basketball tournament at the Bren Center.
Shurrell Johnson scored 10 points for Irvine, which shot 27% (14 for 52).
Irvine plays Brigham Young at 1 p.m. today in the consolation championship, and Boise State plays Oklahoma State in the championship at 3 p.m. Oklahoma State defeated BYU, 95-64, in the other first-round game.
