Broncos’ Perry Convicted of Soliciting

A jury in Aurora, Colo., convicted offensive lineman Gerald Perry of the Denver Broncos of soliciting a prostitute but acquitted him of two other charges and declared a mistrial on a fourth charge.
Perry, a 305-pound tackle, was arrested Sept. 7 when he was found standing half-naked outside his truck with an alleged prostitute. He was charged with soliciting for prostitution, assault and battery, impersonating a police officer and false imprisonment.
Perry testified that he picked up a woman for sexual purposes but denied the other charges against him.
It was the latest in a series of sexual incidents involving Perry. On Aug. 4, he was acquitted in Adams County Court of sexually assaulting a woman at gunpoint in his Westminster home in 1988. Last June, Perry was arrested during a vice sting operation and charged with soliciting a prostitute.
After the incident the night of Sept. 6-7, he consented to undergo counseling for alcohol abuse.
