In its maiden flight, Martin Marietta’s Titan 3, the nation’s most powerful commercial rocket, is to put two advanced communications satellites into orbit tonight. The $100-million, 1.5-million-pound rocket, carrying a British military relay station and a Japanese satellite, will lift off from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The Titan is the second entry in the race for a commercial space-launching capability. Mc-Donnell Douglas launched a British satellite aboard a Delta 2 rocket on Aug. 27.
