THE SIDELINES : Ellison Sidelined Until March

SACRAMENTO — Pervis Ellison, the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA draft, may be sidelined until mid-March by tendinitis in his right big toe, Sacramento Kings officials say.
“He won’t be able to do anything on his foot for three weeks, and after that he has to go back to point zero,” Coach Jerry Reynolds said Wednesday. “Then you’re talking about getting him into shape for playing and practicing every day.
“You’re looking at two or three months before he’ll be able to contribute,” Reynolds added. “I’m hoping he can play in the last 20 to 25 games, but we can’t concern ourselves with that now.”
There were reports Monday that Ellison would miss only three weeks, but the Kings said Wednesday that those reports were incorrect.
Ellison, a forward and center from Louisville, was fitted for an immobilizing boot Wednesday by Dr. Richard Marder, the Kings’ orthopedic surgeon.
