Marina del Rey : Holiday Boat Parade Set
Marina del Rey will be transformed into a holiday wonderland shortly after sundown Saturday as scores of decorated boats join in the marina’s 27th annual Christmas boat parade.
The two-hour festivities will get under way at 5:30 p.m. in the marina’s main channel. The grand marshal is actor-singer Howard Keel.
The traditional boat parade, sponsored by the Pioneer Skippers Boat Owners Assn., draws thousands to the marina each year. Live bands and choral groups offer a musical accompaniment to the procession of boats decorated with flashing lights and animated figures.
The best viewing areas are from Fisherman’s Village, Burton Chace Park, and the north and south marina jetties.
