Mike Shanahan, former Raider head coach and now an assistant with the Denver Broncos, is a leading candidate for the head coaching job at the University of Kentucky, where he would replace Jerry Claiborne, who retired.
Shanahan acknowledged that he had spoken with Kentucky Athletic Director C. M. Newton about the position, adding: “I don’t know what I’m going to do. From my standpoint, I’m very flattered to be considered for the job. I’ve talked to him, but it’s been very informal. I’m concentrating on this week’s game.”
