Hank Gathers, Loyola Marymount’s senior center, was reported in good condition Sunday after collapsing during Saturday night’s game against UC Santa Barbara at Loyola’s Gersten Pavilion.
Gathers, under observation at Centinela Hospital Medical Center, appeared to faint while at the free-throw line with 13:56 left in the game. He lost consciousness, but was able to walk off the court before being taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Loyola’s sports internist, Dr. Michael Mellman, said that Gathers would remain hospitalized today.
