HUTCHINSON, Minn. — Warmed by the thaw in East-West relations, the City Council on Tuesday unanimously voted to repeal a local ban on Russian vodka imposed in 1983 after a Korean passenger jet was shot down by the Soviets.
Mayor Paul Ackland said the city would write a letter to the Soviet Embassy to inform them of the action. “We want them to know that we as a community support the changes being made,” Ackland said.
