The Envelope, Please: Winners of the D. W. Griffith Awards were announced Wednesday, and “Driving Miss Daisy” won best film honors, while its star, Morgan Freeman, won for best actor. The best actress award went to Michelle Pfeiffer for her role in “The Fabulous Baker Boys.” Best supporting roles were that of Alan Alda in “Crimes and Misdemeanors” and Mary Stuart Masterson in “Immediate Family.” Kenneth Branagh won for best director for “Henry V” and “Story of Women” won for best foreign film. The awards will be presented Feb. 26 in New York. The awards are presented by the Directors Guild of America.
