Pakistan Gun Battle Leaves Three Dead

KARACHI, Pakistan — A gun battle erupted Friday in Hyderabad, leaving three people dead, after Pakistani security forces temporarily lifted a curfew to allow people to go to mosques for prayers, police said.
The curfew was immediately reimposed in parts of the city and troops patrolled the streets broadcasting loudspeaker warnings that curfew violators would be shot.
Friday’s deaths raised to 11 the toll in four days of ethnic violence between native Sindis and Mohajir immigrants from India.
Clashes between the two groups have claimed more than 1,000 lives in the last three years.
