Former Kennedy High standout Mike Pringle, who capped a vagabond collegiate career this season by leading the nation in all-purpose running, was named to the North squad for the Blue-Gray All-Star Football Classic, organizers announced Friday.
Pringle, of Cal State Fullerton, rushed for 1,727 yards, amassed 714 yards on kickoff returns and added 249 more on passes to average 244.5 yards a game. He equaled the NCAA single-game rushing record by gaining 357 yards Nov. 4 against New Mexico State, a mark broken by Indiana’s Anthony Thompson a week later.
Pringle began his collegiate career at Washington State, then transferred to Glendale College and Cal State Fullerton.
The Blue-Gray game will be played Christmas Day in Montgomery, Ala., and televised live by ABC.
