Nebraska Upsets Bruins, Will Play 49ers for Title

HONOLULU — Nebraska will play Cal State Long Beach tonight at 9:30 (PST) for the title in the NCAA Division I women’s volleyball tournament.
Cris Hall had 19 kills to lead No. 4 Nebraska over No. 2 UCLA in the semifinals Thursday night, 15-13, 15-11, 15-6. The 49ers beat No. 7 Texas Arlington, 15-6, 11-15, 15-10, 15-7.
It will be the first championship final for No. 5 Long Beach, which got 21 kills from Antoinnette White.
Nebraska out-blocked UCLA, 19-7.
“We knew they were a great team,” Nebraska Coach Terry Pettit said. “We just kept coming with everything. . . We didn’t back off on anything.”
UCLA Coach Andy Banachowski said: “They beat us pretty soundly. They took over and controlled and dominated.”
