Duffy’s Departure
The San Diego County sheriff’s decision not to run again is good news. Any person who complains about the media in this country has to be unrealistic. If people like Duffy and Orange County’s Brad Gates were ethical and worked pure law enforcement, the media would not bother them. But, as soon as a person in politics or the police becomes unethical, why shouldn’t the media report to all concerned, the voters and the citizens?
Now if Duffy believes the media in this country are too powerful, he should go to, say, Russia or Saudi Arabia, where governments or dictatorships suppress all pertinent news.
Al Capone didn’t like the media either--but, then, he wasn’t straight. Nixon, North and Reagan didn’t like the media either, but they were unethical also.
We live in the greatest country in the world, and I like the way the media expose people in politics, law enforcement and what have you. I wouldn’t want a government-controlled press, because this is where dictatorships evolve.
Get my point, Duffy?
