SHORT TAKES : Pauley’s ‘Today’ to End Dec. 29

Jane Pauley will wind up her long-running stint on NBC’s “Today” on Dec. 29. A retrospective of her 13 years on the show will air during the 8:30 to 9 a.m. segment that morning. Her successor, Deborah Norville, won’t take over until Jan. 8. In the interim, co-anchor Bryant Gumbel will be joined by four hosts from “Today Shows Past,” including John Chancellor, Jan. 2; Hugh Downs, Jan. 3; Joe Garagiola, Jan. 4, and Tom Brokaw, Jan. 5.
