Police arrested a Buena Park man Tuesday on suspicion of murder in the stabbing of an Anaheim man, authorities said.
Anaheim police took Pablo Gomez, 25, into custody on the Santa Ana Freeway in Buena Park early Tuesday.
Sgt. Fred Roush said detectives made the arrest a few hours after Gilberto Hernandez Pineda, 18, died from stab wounds at Western Medical Center-Anaheim.
Police and paramedics found Pineda bleeding from the chest in the 800 block of South Claudina Street, Roush said. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Monday.
Paramedics treated Pineda on the scene before taking him to the hospital. Pineda died around 12:05 a.m. Tuesday.
Acting on a tip, Roush said, police stopped a vehicle driven by Gomez on the freeway after a two-hour search.
“The suspect was arrested without incident,” Roush said.
He said police are still trying to determine the motive for the stabbing.
