COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titan Wrestlers Win First of Season

Cal State Fullerton’s wrestling team earned its first victory of the season by defeating host Portland State, 36-7, Tuesday.
Heavyweight David Jones, who is ranked 10th in the nation and has a 6-2-1 record, pinned John Paul Jones in 2 minutes 43 seconds to cap the Titan victory.
Other top Fullerton performers were Jeff Maes, who pined Geoff Johannesen (5:38) in the 126-pound division, and Lyndon Campbell, who won a technical fall, 19-2, over Allen Rollins (6:10) in the 134-pound division.
In another nonconference wrestling match:
Oregon 20, Cal State Fullerton 15--Fullerton traveled to Eugene for a match Tuesday night. Jeff Mase (126), Martin Armendarez (158), Dan Henderson (167), and Jones won decisions for Fullerton (1-3).
In nonconference women’s basketball:
UC Riverside 88, Southern California College 65--Kristen Bevis had 16 points for visiting Southern California College (5-3). Coki Drake and Becky Geeson each had 16 points for UC Riverside (4-4).
