Slain Man Found at Picnic Grounds

An unidentified man was found shot to death Saturday at the Pyramid Lake picnic grounds, the Los Angeles sheriff’s department reported.

The man, who was in sitting position against a wall separating the picnic area from a parking lot, was found about 3:15 p.m. by a group of fishermen, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Bruce Sonnenblick.

Authorities at first thought the man, age 35 to 40, had died of natural causes. But a coroner’s deputy later found a single bullet wound in his chest, authorities said.

The body was fully clothed. Homicide detectives are investigating, said Sonnenblick.
