The University of Pittsburgh has interviewed Notre Dame assistant coach Barry Alvarez about becoming its next football coach.
Alvarez, the defensive coordinator of the fourth-ranked Irish, met with Dean Billick, Pitt associate athletic director for about six hours. Ed Bozik, Pitt athletic director, was in El Paso, Texas, where the Panthers will play Texas A&M; Saturday in the John Hancock Bowl.
