A concession-stand operator chosen by the City Council for the recently opened Calafia Beach Park will have to provide $87,000 worth of improvements to the building’s interior, according to a lease agreement.
City resident Mo Modiry won the bid to operate the snack stand at the $1.2-million park project, which was financed by county, city and state funds.
Although the county-run construction project included money to build the concession building, interior walls, sprinklers, floors and a ventilation system were not included in the structure. Modiry’s $10,000 annual lease requires that he pay for the upgrading, the report said.
The park and a 210-space parking lot officially opened Dec. 4.
