Institute Offers a Variety of Programs

The Wilderness Institute, a nonprofit organization based in Woodland Hills, will offer a variety of programs during January, including cross-country skiing, beginning sea kayaking and introduction to climbing.
Introduction to cross-country skiing, a day in the snow, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 13 and again Jan. 21. The fun of cross-country skiing, a free introductory presentation, will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19.
Introduction to rock climbing is set for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 20. Also scheduled Jan. 20 are beginning sea kayaking from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and basic canoeing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A gourd basketry class will meet from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 21. The Jan. 21 schedule also includes a beginners’ bicycle tour of Ojai from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the institute will offer a family cross-country ski day. Also set that day, from 10 a.m. to noon, is “All Things Wild and Wonderful,” an adventure in nature exploration.
The Jan. 28 schedule includes women’s introduction to climbing from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., mountain bike maintenance from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., telemark skiing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and fossil fun, a digging expedition designed for young people from 10 a.m. to noon.
