Beauer, Rudisill Earn Places on All-Star Team

Clint Beauer and Steve Rudisill, standout performers at Canyon and Thousand Oaks highs, have been named to the All-Southern Section football team.
Both led their teams to the Division II semifinals this season.
Beauer, a 6-foot-3 wide receiver, had 75 receptions for 1,235 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Rudisill, 6 foot, 185 pounds, was a hard-hitting free safety for the Lancers. Thousand Oaks posted five shutouts and yielded an average of 141.8 yards a game, including less than 60 a game rushing.
Occidental College football players Tony Ferguson, David Grossklaus and Scott Sand are finalists for Academic All-American honors.
Ferguson was a senior defensive lineman, Grossklaus a sophomore tight end and Sand a sophomore wide receiver for the Tigers, who finished 8-2 and won the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship.
Heavyweight John Bray of Van Nuys will represent the United States in an amateur boxing match against Yugoslavia, Jan. 10 in Rapid City, S.D.
Abe Gomez of Arleta will meet Edward (Pee Wee) Parker of Houston for the vacant World Boxing Assn. Americas featherweight championship in a scheduled 12-round fight at the Forum on Jan. 8.
