LA HABRA : School Board Told Classrooms Needed

The city school district will need additional classrooms to handle growing enrollment by September, according to a report to the school board this week.
New portable classrooms may be needed at El Cerrito, Las Positas, Sierra Vista, Imperial and Washington schools, the report said. Replacement buildings may also be installed at Las Lomas Elementary School.
Schools Supt. Rich Hermann was directed to investigate alternate methods for funding a purchase of new buildings.
Although the district has a special reserve fund containing $1.3 million, board members are reluctant to draw money needed for new portables from that source, board members said.
