SIGN OF TIMES: As the county grows, so grow its phone books. . . . In November, Pacific Bell will begin publishing five Smart Yellow Page directories, two more than at present, to accommodate many more small business listings. . . . The northern area will be split into north and inland directories and the central directory will be split into central and coastal books. The south directory is unchanged. They’re the first changes since a north and south split in 1983.
