Thirteen museums in the county will celebrate International Museum Day at the Old Orange County Courthouse Museum on Saturday, featuring such 19th-Century artifacts as a washing machine that visitors can try firsthand.
The second annual event is sponsored by the International Council of Museums to show how “museums are important means of cultural exchange to the world,” said Marshall Duell, the historical resources planner at the Old Courthouse. Other activities include a panel discussion on the restoration of historic houses, actors portraying early California settlers and tours of the Old Courthouse, which is usually closed on weekends.
Displays can be seen from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 211 W. Santa Ana Blvd. There is no admission fee. For more information, call (714) 834-5536 or (714) 834-3703.
