Whitney Signs: Singer Whitney Houston has signed a multi-picture development deal with 20th Century Fox for projects that she will star in and produce through her company, Nippy Productions, which is headed by her father, John Houston. Joe Roth, chairman and chief executive officer of Fox, called Houston “a star of the first magnitude in the world of music, and it will be exciting for us to work with her as she turns her talents to producing and starring in films.” Houston, 26, who has sold more than 30 million recordings, has never before acted in a feature film.
