Tonight’s Medfly Spraying
State helicopters are scheduled tonight to resume spraying malathion over a 36-mile section that includes all of Garden Grove and parts of Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos, Cypress, Stanton, Anaheim, Orange and Santa Ana.
Frank Parsons, Orange County agricultural deputy commissioner, said the spraying is subject to change, depending on weather conditions. Spraying is set to begin about 9 p.m.
Tonight’s aerial spraying will be the ninth time that the controversial pesticide has been used in the Garden Grove area, where two Mediterranean fruit flies were found late last year.
